The IDE Hard Disk Industry

The IBM engineers in 1950 made the critical discovery of hard disks, and the IBM 305 RAMAC (Random Access Method of Accounting and Control) – the first hard disk – was born.
Since then, HDD market grew rapidly. Just a few large firms like Seagate, Western Digital, Samsung, Hitachi and Toshiba handled the production of the world’s HDD supply.
